Terms of use · Updated 5 October 2026

Plain terms.

These terms cover the Ownkin website and the Ownkin apps for Mac, iPhone and iPad.

Ownkin is in development. These terms apply to the prelaunch website and to development and beta builds. We will review them, and add anything a public release needs, before Ownkin is generally available.

Who we are

Ownkin is operated by Tlon OU (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at contact@ownkin.ai.

Using the apps

Ownkin runs its assistant on your Mac. The iPhone and iPad apps are companions that send your requests to a Mac you have paired and approved. You need your own compatible Mac, and it must be available for new replies.

If you get Ownkin from the App Store, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. If these terms and that agreement conflict for an App Store copy, Apple’s agreement controls to the extent required.

Your content

What you write, say, and receive in Ownkin stays yours. Ownkin does not send your conversations to us, and we do not claim any rights in them. The privacy policy explains where your information is stored and what leaves your devices.

You are responsible for what you ask Ownkin to do and for having the right to use the material you give it.

Replies can be wrong

Ownkin’s replies are generated by a language model running on your Mac. They can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong, and they are not professional advice. Check anything important — especially medical, legal, financial, or safety matters — with a qualified source before relying on it.

Third-party components

On first setup, the Mac app downloads assistant model files from Hugging Face. Those files, and the open-source software included in the apps, are provided by third parties under their own licenses. The apps include the corresponding notices.

Acceptable use

Don’t use Ownkin or this website to break the law, to harm others, or to interfere with or reverse-engineer our services beyond what applicable law or an open-source license allows.

Development builds

Development and beta builds are unfinished. Features may change, stop working, or be removed, and data in a test build may need to be reset. Keep your own copies of anything important.

No warranty and limits

To the extent the law allows, Ownkin is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from its use. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.

Changes

We will update these terms as Ownkin changes and show the update date above.
